Document Checker

Get a tailored checklist of the customs paperwork your shipment likely needs, and track what you've gathered before it ships.

Does your shipment involve any of the following? (optional)

0/7 gathered
  • Commercial InvoiceRequired

Itemized invoice from the seller showing goods, quantities, unit and total value, and terms of sale (Incoterms). This is the primary basis for customs valuation.

  • Packing ListRequired

Breakdown of how goods are packed — carton/pallet counts, weights, and dimensions — used to verify the shipment against the invoice and to support any physical inspection.

  • Bill of Lading / Air WaybillRequired

Transport document issued by the carrier that serves as the contract of carriage and, for ocean freight, may also function as a title document to release the cargo.

  • Customs Import DeclarationRequired

The formal entry filed with the destination country's customs authority, declaring HS classification, value, and origin for duty and tax assessment.

  • Importer Registration / Tax IDRequired

Many countries require an importer-specific identifier to file an entry — for example an EORI number (EU/UK), an Importer Exporter Code (India), or an importer of record number (US).

Tip: Confirm this is active before the shipment departs — applying for one after cargo arrives can add days to clearance.

  • Importer Security Filing (ISF / "10+2")Conditional

Required by some destinations (notably US ocean imports) before the vessel loads at the foreign port — separate from and earlier than the main customs entry.

Tip: This has its own deadline, typically 24 hours before loading — missing it can trigger penalties even if the rest of the entry is fine.

  • Container Loading Plan / Seal Number RecordRecommended

Confirms which goods are in which container and records the seal number, useful if customs selects the container for inspection.

* General reference only — exact document requirements vary by country, commodity, and trade agreement. Confirm the specific list with a licensed customs broker or the relevant customs authority before shipping.
